About the Author | Fred A. Stutman, M.D.
Fred A. Stutman, M.D. has done extensive research in the fields of exercise physiology, diet and nutrition at the U.S. Naval Air Development Center and in his private medical practice. As a medical officer in the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Stutman established one of the first walking programs for cardiac rehabilitation patients.
Dr. Stutman currently practices family medicine as a Temple University Family Practice Physician. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice and a recipient of the American Medical Association’s Physician’s Recognition Award. He is also a member of the American College of Sports Medicine. Dr. Stutman is also the author of the online publication Dr. Walk’s Diet & Fitness Newsletter.
Dr. Stutman is the author of 12 books and numerous medical articles on diet, nutrition and exercise. Following the publication of The Doctor’s Walking Book, he became known as “Dr. Walk.” Dr. Stutman’s books have been featured in national and international publications including Prevention, Self, Cosmopolitan, Family Circle, Readers Digest, The New York Times, U.S.A. Today, and more. Dr. Stutman has appeared on national TV and radio, including The Today Show and Good Morning America. Philly’s Fit-Step Walking Diet was featured on the cover of Publisher’s Weekly, and Dr. Walk’s Power Diet-Step was selected as a cover article in Woman’s World and First For Women magazines. McGraw Hill acquired the reprint rights to 100 Best Weight-Loss Tips.
